A day after declaring that he would be announcing his college commitment, Michigan Forward Legend Geeter has committed to Ed Cooley and the Providence Friars.
Geeter becomes the Friars first commit in the 2021 recruiting class and hopefully kicks off the beginning of this class coming together. The Friars still have 2 open scholarships for the 2021 class and are looking for a point and a big to round out their trio of incoming players for that year.
The Friars are currently included in the final lists for point guards Breon Pass (4) and Darius Johnson (3), as well as big men Rafael Castro (6), Kuluel Mading (8), & Bryce Hopkins (9) so securing one of each of those groups would be the best case scenario for PC.
Legend Geeter, who immediately rises to the top of the Big East for the best name in the conference, chose the Friars over Georgetown, Missouri, Western Michigan, & Duquesne. The 6’7” – 6’8” swingman’s game is essentially Alpha Diallo redux. It’s almost scary how much their games resemble each other. Not only is he the same size and body type as Diallo, but his game thrives on feasting down low, despite being undersized for a post player. He savagely pursues every loose ball, both on defense and on any and every rebound that’s up for grabs. The kid is a hustler and has the signature versatility that Ed Cooley teams thrive on.

Geeter’s River Rouge (MI) coach LaMonta Stone, refers to Legend as “the poster child for the position-less basketball player. At 6’8″, he is a productive offensive player inside or outside.” That is Cooley’s ideal style of play for his squads that emphasize length, grit, and toughness. Stone’s name might sound familiar as he was an assistant coach at Eastern Michigan University, Ohio State University and Bowling Green State University.
Last season, Geeter was an All-State selection in the state of Michigan, averaging 16 ppg, 10 rpg, 2 apg, & 2 bpg. His High School team, River Rouge, was 20-1 his Junior year and headed to the Class A district finals before the end of the basketball season was canceled.

One of my favorite parts of any Friar commitment announcement…
