Legend Geeter made it official, signing his National Letter of Intent to play collegiate basketball for Ed Cooley and the Providence Friars. A day after fellow 2021 Friar commit Rafael Castro inked his NLI, Geeter followed suit surrounded by those close to him who helped get him to where he is today.
Not gonna lie, that “Go Friars” at the end got me hyped.
With College basketball right around the corner, it’s moments like these that are going to hold the collective Friartown fan base over until games start up.
Geeter was the first to commit to Providence in the 2021 class and the Michigan Forward, like an Alpha Diallo clone, seems to be the ideal versatile and multi-positional player that Cooley’s teams thrive with incorporating into their schemes. With Geeter and Castro, the Friars have two incoming players who excel on the defensive end where they can make an immediate impact when they step on the court. They are going to be a problem to get buckets against and it seems like I’m not the only one with that mindset…
“We are excited to have Legend and Rafael joining the Friar family. Both players will add to our front court. We believe that they will help make us better on both ends of the floor. However, we are really looking forward to seeing them on the defensive end. Each one brings some unique skill sets that will enhance our defense.”
– Coach Ed Cooley

As much as I love the signature “It’s an exciting time in Friartown” quote, it’s good to see Cooley be able to actually address his guys on Twitter.
Literally nobody would know this next thing but apparently I’ve been saying Legend Geeter’s last name incorrectly this entire time. Granted, with all this quarantine, I’m only saying it in my head to myself, but still, it was good to know how to say it from his video before he steps onto campus next year.
I was pronouncing it Gi, like a Jiu Jitsu Gi.
Apparently it’s Geeter, like Derek Jeter. I’m not going to hold it against him because it’s spelled different, but I could have easily sounded like an idiot if it wasn’t for his NLI video. Also, it give me an excuse to post this, which is maybe one of my favorite graphics ever.

I don’t think that will ever be topped.
But as for the real reason for celebration, Welcome (officially) to Friartown Legend!!
