The Milwaukee Bucks have invited former Providence College standout Ben Bentil to their training camp for the upcoming season. Bentil, still just 23 years of age, spent last season with Bilbao Basket of Spain Liga ACB and the French Club Champagne Chalons-Reims.
The Bucks thrive on playing lineups with versatile players that can play multiple positions. They want to have interchangeable parts that are athletic, can shoot, and play defense.
Big East Alum and new addition Donte DiVencenzo fits that mold perfectly. Bentil could play his way into a spot on the 15 man roster but I think it might take a trade on their part to get some of their roster unclogged to do so. Bentil may find his way into the G-League if he wants to play there again and have to wait out some of the season in the meantime. It doesn’t look like the Bucks have committed to any of their big guys wholeheartedly except for The Greek Freak.
You have John Henson, Thon Maker, Ersan Ilyasova, Brook Lopez, Marshall Plumlee, and Tyler Zeller filling out the rest of the front court and none of those guys really jump of the page at you when you go through the list.
Here’s to hoping that Ben can play his way to a contract.
