Providence Friars Forward Mac Steeves was selected 43rd overall (2nd Round, 20th Pick) in the MLS SuperDraft by the Houston Dynamo.
With the 43rd pick the Dynamo select Mac Steeves, forward from @PCFriarsMSoccer.

Steeves, the PC Friars Senior Captain from Needham, Mass., was out with an injury all of last year during the Friars dream run to the Final Four. In his return to the pitch this season, Steeves scored 8 goals and tallied 3 assists, good for 19 overall points and a First Team All-Big East Selection. Steeves leaves Providence College holding the 2nd place spot All-Time in both goals and points for Men’s Soccer.
Steeves was selected a year after former teammate Julian Gressel was chosen with the 8th overall pick by the expansion team, Atlanta United FC. Gressel went on to have an outstanding year, culminating in MLS Rookie of the Year honors and a trip to the MLS Playoffs.
Gressel was kind enough to send some congratulations to Steeves on his selection.
Big Congrats to @MacSteeves for being selected by Houston!! All the best my friend.. #FriarFamily #GoFriars

Coach Craig Stewart also had some nice parting words for the Captain as he pursues a soccer career in the MLS.
“We are happy that Mac was picked up on the first day of the MLS draft and has been given this opportunity to prove himself at the next level. He had a fantastic career at Providence College, leaving our program as second all-time in both goals and points. He was obviously a huge part of our program’s recent success and we are proud of what he has accomplished to this point. We wish him all the best moving forward with Houston.”
Steeves joins a Houston Dynamo team that finished the season 14-10-11 last year, good enough for 4th in the Western Conference and a playoff spot. I was hoping to find out that the team struggled to score goals and won with defense, thus desperately needing Mac to produce scores like he does, but they finished 5th in the MLS with 57 goals last season. The Dynamo did take a goalkeeper with their first pick in the SuperDraft, so at least Steeves won’t be immediately competing for time with another Rookie.
Houston Dynamo Head Coach Wilmer Cabrera had some nice things to say about Steeves after the draft pick, mainly, what Friartown already knows all too well, the dude scores goals.
“What you want to have is someone who scores goals.”

Good Luck to Mac Steeves at the next level.
