Locke had previously narrowed his list down to a Final 8 schools including Florida, Kansas, Providence, Maryland, Michigan, Ohio State, Xavier, and Virginia. Of those 8 schools, Locke took official visits to 5 of them, essentially dropping off Maryland, Virginia, and Kansas from his top schools by not taking an official visit to any of them.
Locke’s last visit was to Florida this past weekend and despite the Gators also receiving a commitment from 2018 Point Guard Andrew Nembhard on Monday.
Here is Noah Locke talking with Rivals about his visit, his commitment, and his relationships with both the coaching staff and new Gator commit Nembhard. Locke believes that him and Nembhard can develop into the best backcourt in the Nation and compliment each other extremely well with Nembhard being a pure passer and Locke being a pure scorer.
Florida is still pursuing some other Providence 2018 targets in wings Khavon Moore (who dropped PC from his latest list of schools) and Keyontae Johnson. However, this takes them out of the running for Rhode Island native and top-PC target, David Duke.
I have to say, I really respected the way that Friars fans on Twitter wished Noah Locke the best of luck and congratulated him on his decision to commit to the Florida Gators. I couldn’t find one person who chastised or criticized him and I think that says a lot about our fan base as a whole. For one, it shows a ton of respect. This is a High School kid who is making the biggest decision of his life and doing what him and his family believe is best for him and his future. And also, with the amount of transfers that end up going somewhere else after a year or two at a College that doesn’t work out for them, it’s helps to show that type of fandom and courtesy and could be a small factor in their decision to go somewhere else…a very small factor but every little thing helps.
Noah Locke seems like a great kid with a good head on his shoulders and should be fun to watch at the Swamp.
