Here are my Pre-Season picks for the Big East last season: 2018-2019 Pre-Season Big East Team picks. Here is what the actual team ended up being compared to where my pre-season pick had them.
1st Team
Markus Howard (Marquette) – 1st Team (Player of the Year)
Jessie Govan (Georgtown) – 2nd Team
Shamorie Ponds (St. John’s) – 1st Team
Myles Powell (Seton Hall) – 2nd Team
Eric Paschall (Villanova) – 1st Team
Phil Booth (Villanova) – 3rd Team
2nd Team
Kamar Baldwin (Butler) – 1st Team
Max Strus (DePaul) – 3rd Team
Alpha Diallo (Providence) – 1st Team
Sam Hauser (Marquette) – 2nd Team
Naji Marshall (Xavier) – 2nd Team
Honorable Mentions
Ty-Shon Alexander (Creighton) – No Team
Martin Krempelj (Creighton) – 3rd Team
I had Mustapha Heron of St. John’s making the 2nd Team in my Pre-Season predictions, which is the only player from my predictions who didn’t make any of the end of the year All-Big East Teams. I also whiffed on Ty-Shon Alexander and did not even have him as an honorable mention. For those players on my 3rd Team that didn’t make the end of the year honor roll, I had Eli Cain (DePaul) and Joe Cremo (Villanova). I watched Cremo a couple of times and yikes, that pick did not turn out pretty. I also predicted Cremo would be the 6th Man of the Year in the conference. Mulligan.

It’s really tough to pick the All-Freshman Team for the Big East this year as so many squads are bringing back tons of upperclassmen this season. It’s really going to be a question of who is going to be a contributor on their team as a Frosh as I don’t think any Freshmen are going to be complete standouts this year in the conference.
