The Providence Friars have been as in as you can get on a recruit in the 2020 class with Earl Timberlake of DeMatha Catholic. Timberlake, a consensus Top-30 prospect in his class, has gradually moved up the rankings behind some stellar play both in the High School and AAU ranks. The 6’6” swing man recently released the list of his final 7 schools that he is considering and has included Providence.

The other six schools that are in contention include fellow Big East foe Seton Hall, North Carolina, Pitt, Alabama, Miami, and South Carolina.
Timberlake’s teammate, Hunter Dickinson also recently included Providence in his own final 7 schools.
Just a sidenote here, but how did Tipton Edits get a stranglehold on every High School kid’s release of their finals schools and ultimate college decision? I’m not knocking it at all because all their edits are pretty awesome. I’m just curious how they found that little niche, that’s all.
The Friar offered Timberlake all the way back on October 24th of 2017! They’ve been in on this kid for almost two years now. In fact, the Friars offered Timberlake before any other school in his top 7 by almost 8 whole months (Pitt in June 2018). UNC didn’t even extend an offer until late June of this year (about a month ago). Obviously, they think the cache of their school can outweigh relationships and connections but that’s the risk you put yourself in as on of those blue bloods.
Out of all the current recruiting targets that Providence is looking at, Earl Timberlake is the one that I’ve been most excited about since they started looking at him. He is a versatile player that has the “it” factor that separates him from the similarly rated players around him. His athleticism is off-the-charts but it’s the intangibles that I’m pumped to see. His tenacity and effort level are locked on at a 10 with no ability to lower them. He is an all-around stud and seems like a great dude too, to make him an even more attractive fit for Providence. Exhibit A…
I truly appreciate it Dani Jo! I really hope I get the pleasure of meeting you💙💙! https://t.co/39sgptzHgh

Earl is lethal from distance but has the size and power to body people down low if the occasion calls for it. The guy’s game is as smooth as ice and we all know how much Cooley has an affinity for southpaws.
Timberlake is the complete package as a player. He can handle the rock, shoot from everywhere, dish the pill, has strength, speed, agility, and not only that, but he has the attitude and personality that you look for as well.
