With the NCAA Tournament now in full swing today, I think it’s a bit overdue to name my All-Big East Teams for the 2018-2019 Men’s Basketball season.  Before we get into the individual teams, let’s get the main awards out of the way shall we?

Big East Player of the Year – Markus Howard (Marquette) – Pre-Season Pick

Defensive Player of the Year – Paul Reed (DePaul) – Pre-Season Pick Tyrique Jones (Xavier)

Offensive Player of the Year – Myles Powell (Seton Hall)

Coach of the Year – Kevin Willard (Seton Hall) – Pre-Season Pick Travis Steele (Xavier)

It’s always weird to pick the offensive player of the year because it’s not supposed to be the Player of the Year who gets the award.  If it was, then Howard would have won that for me too, but much like the NFL, it seems like a stats award for non-MVP players.

Unlike the Big East Team Awards, I only allow 5 guys per team, much like, you know, how a basketball team is assembled.  I also define the positions by backcourt (BC) and frontcourt (FC) as position-less basketball is much more the norm these days.

Here are my pre-season picks so you can see if I have any idea what I’m talking about…newsflash, probably not.  I put what team I had the in the pre-season in italics after the player, just for reference.
