One of the top recruiting targets for the Providence Friars 2019 class, Greg Gantt, included PC in his cut down list of his Final 9 schools.  The other 8 schools include the Texas Longhorns, Florida Gators, Clemson Tigers, Pittsburgh Panthers, Alabama Crimson Tide, Georgia Bulldogs and Vanderbilt Commodores.

Gantt is a consensus Top-60 recruit, currently ranked 58th on 247Sports and 55th on Rivals.  The Friars were one of the first high-major schools to offer Gantt, almost a year ago on July 22nd of last year.

Gantt talked about each school in his Final 9 with Endless Motor Scouting and had the following to say about PC.

“Providence- 1 of the very first major schools too offer, Coach Cooley and I have built a strong relationship. Feels like family.”

It’s very telling that he said that it “feels like family,” as that seemed to be the strongest sentiment towards any of his final schools, with most of the other schools he mostly spoke to playing style.  He has indicated that he will try to visit both Clemson and Georgia this month and will probably make a decision in November.

Gantt would not only fit seamlessly into the Providence Friars’ playing style and mentality of its players with his versatility and toughness, but he would fit perfectly into the culture that Ed Cooley and the assistant coaches have cultivated in Providence.
