The Providence Friars will once again be participating in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament as part of their 2018-2019 non-conference schedule. The full schedule for the tournament can be found here.
The Friars will be returning to Mohegan Sun Arena, otherwise known as Friartown South, for the bracketed portion of the Tournament (Naismith Bracket), along with George Washington, South Carolina, and Michigan.
The campus round schedule will include a game against Siena on November 6th and Holy Cross on November 13th.
The Friars will take on South Carolina on November 17th and will then play either George Washington or Michigan, depending on the winners of each contest.
Here’s a quote from Coach Ed Cooley on Providence being chosen to participate in the familiar tournament once again.
“We are looking forward to playing in the 2018 Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament at Mohegan Sun. We enjoy playing at Mohegan Sun Arena and had a great experience in 2014 when we participated in the event. The arena provides a perfect setting for an in-season tournament and the location is ideal for our fans.”
I love when they play at Mohegan, being a Connecticut resident, it is so freaking easy to head down to the casino. As always, I expect Mohegan to be filled with mostly Friar fans and a raucous atmosphere.
