A year after being named to the All-Big East 2nd Team and the Big East 6th Man of the Year, Jared Bynum has risen to the All-Big East Preseason 1st Team. Bynum was the only Friar to be named to either the 1st or 2nd All-Big East Preseason Team. Here is how the rest of the 1st Team shaped up.
UConn’s Adama Sanogo isn’t listed on the first team as he was named the Preseason Big East Player of the Year. I don’t know why they just don’t name him to the first team as well but it does free up a first team slot for someone else. Sanogo is also the only returning player from last year’s 1st Team, while Bynum is the only returning player from last year’s 2nd Team. Here’s a quick look at where this year’s Preseason First Team was selected after the 2021-2022 season.
Jared Bynum – named to 2nd Team
Ryan Kalkbrenner – named to Honorable Mention Team
Posh Alexander – named to Honorable Mention Team
Jack Nunge – named to Honorable Mention Team
Colby Jones – not named to any Team
Despite being an All-Big East 2nd Team selection last season, Justin Moore of Villanova was still selected to the Preseason All-Big East 2nd Team for this season. He was leap-frogged by three Honorable Mention selections and a player who did not make any of the All-Big East Teams last year. They must have factored his injury into the equation because all other signs point to him being better than at least a couple of these guys.
Not to go unnoticed, Bynum was also named the 18th best guard in the country for this upcoming 2022-2023 basketball season by The Athletic’s Sam Vecenie. He was the only Big East guard included in the list.
Let’s Go!
