The Friars are back in the NCAA Tournament for the first time 2018, looking for their first win in the Big Dance since a 2016 win in the First Round against USC. The Friars are only about 2 point favorites against the much higher seeded South Dakota State, who went undefeated in the Summit League this season. All of the “experts” and analysts are picking SDSU as an upset pick but Providence has had to try and convince people that they are for real all season so having doubters feels about right. Despite going 25-5, winning the Big East regular season, and beating a number of tournament teams (Texas Tech, Wisconsin, UConn, Seton Hall, Creighton, Marquette, etc.), the Friars can’t seem to get the respect that they’ve earned.
Who else has been keeping an ongoing list of those picking SDSU? The public is overwhelming picking SDSU which I’m loving right now. Keep doubting. Keep that chip on our shoulder. Hey Jay Bilas…

If you thought that the Friars were a tame name for a team, I’ll take a Friar over a Jackrabbit any day.
You can talk all you want about SDSU’s shooting, and it is good, but they’ve also played pretty much nobody. Anytime they’ve played a team of any worth, they’ve lost because they can’t defend a paper bag. Also, the defenses that they’ve played against 333rd. That’s out of a possible 358 for those keeping track at home. They’ve never seen a defender like Justin Minaya who is going to put the clamps on whoever he’s guarding.
Just something to note, one of their notable alumni, Ernest O. Lawrence, participated in The Manhattan Project that produced the first nuclear weapons. So you can thank SDSU for that.
Friars by double-digits. LET’S GO!!!
