Just a few days after Forward Kris Monrow announced that he was entering the transfer portal, he has committed to the NC Central Eagles to continue his collegiate basketball career. Monroe returns home to North Carolina with his commitment and even more specifically, returns to his hometown of Durham, North Carolina, where NC Central is actually located.
I was projecting that Monroe might have been headed to Charlotte just based on the schools that originally offered him coming out of High School and being close to home, but I guess I at least got the close to home part right.
NC Central is part of the MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) the season just 5-9 with a 3-5 conference record, unfortunately having 11 games either postponed or cancelled associated to COVID.
Considering that the top 4 scorers on the team last season were guards and that the team was led in rebounding by a guard at just 3.9 rpg, it looks like there could definitely be playing time available at the Forward position next season for Kris.
Either way, I’ll be looking in during the season to see how he’s playing and wishing him nothing but the best throughout next season.
