Just a day after agreeing to extend his contract with Peristeri Vikos Cola for another year, Ben Bentil will be joining the reigning Greek Cup Champions, Panathinaikos. There is a buyout clause in his contract with Peristeri which allows Panathinaikos to acquire Bentil.
Panathinaikos may sound like a familiar Greek Team name to many because it was none other than former Providence College Rick Pitino who took over the head coaching duties this past season and turned things around for the club. Benitl’s coach last season with Peristeri, Argiris Pedoulakis, is taking over the Head Coaching position from Pitino this year for the “Greens” of Panathinaikos and is likely the main reason why Bentil will be taking his talents over to Greece.
Last season over 35 games int he Greek Basket League with Peristeri, Big Ben averaged 12.5 ppg, 6.5 rpg, and shot 39.7% from three.
