Josh Oduro has officially been waived by the New Orleans Pelicans to meet roster requirements as they finalize their NBA Roster for the upcoming season. Oduro, along with three other players (Elfrid Payton, Keion Brooks Jr., & Trhae Mitchell), were the last needed move by the Pelicans whose roster now stands at 17 players, including the maximum allowable three two-way players. All four players that waived were on essentially identical non-guaranteed contracts with Exhibit 10 clauses and will now be eligible to earn bonuses worth $77.5K apiece if they reported to the Birmingham Squadron and spend at least 60 days with the Pelicans G-League team.
The Pelicans had added Oduro and Payton to their preseason squad on Friday October 11th to help bolster their roster for the remaining preseason slate. Oduro had played for New Orleans’ Summer League team where he averaged 4 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists per game over his two appearances.
During his only year (graduate) at Providence College, Oduro averaged 15.9 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game during the 2023-24 season.
