Kris Dunn Officially Becomes an L.A. Clipper via Sign-And-Trade

We’ve been waiting for a while to see if the Utah Jazz would be able to turn Kris Dunn going to the L.A. Clippers into a sign-and-trade that would benefit the two teams. Dunn was announced to have reached an agreement with the Clippers at the very beginning of Free Agency, all the way back on July 2nd, but there were no details regarding a contract as the two teams worked to put this together.

The Clippers are sending Russell Westbrook, a second round pick swap, and cash to the Jazz as part of this sign-and-trade agreement. Initial rumors are that the Jazz will buy out Westbrook’s contract and he will in turn, sign with the Denver Nuggets. The official contract for Dunn is 3 years for $17 million. The fact that he went from on the outside of The League to a 3-year contract with a Western playoff team makes this extra special for the Friars legend.

With Westbrook leaving the Clippers as part of the sign-and-trade, Dunn should slide right into the back-up point guard role behind James Harden. I could also see the two of them sharing the floor some with Dunn as the defensive specialist and Harden as the offensive one, thus having Dunn picking up the defensive deficiencies and pressures off of Harden.
