Garwey Dual Withdraws From the NBA Draft and Returns to the Transfer Portal

On the last day for players to withdraw their name from the upcoming NBA Draft, Garwey Dual has officially decided to return to college basketball and re-enter the Transfer Portal. Dual had previously declared for the NBA Draft back on April 11th.

Following his decision to focus on the Draft, Dual was invited to the G-League Elite Camp for a couple of days in mid-May for players who were projected to be potential later 2nd round picks or undrafted prospects. Dual did check in with good measurables at 6’3 1/2” with a ridiculousluy long wingspan of 7’0” which Providence fans could attest to with his ability to disrupt passing lanes for opposing guards last season. As he is listed as a point guard, it would be the largest wingspan ever measured for a PG at the Elite Camp.

Garwey did a little bit of everything at the camp, showing off his known defensive abilities and looking more comfortable making plays than he did while alongside Devin Carter during his time at Providence. his game may in fact be better suited to the NBA game than college.

Prior to officially declaring for the NBA Draft and taking part in the processes, Dual had been contacted by Dayton, DePaul, Mississippi State, Texas, Georgia, Rice, and SMU (per Adam Zagoria).

Obviously, since then, many of those teams have filled their roster spots with other transfer portal players rather than wait two months to see what Garwey would eventually end up deciding to do after declaring for the NBA Draft. I still believe that Garwey has the tools to be a damn good basketball player, even if it might not be in college necessarily.
